Delta Phi Epsilon was founded in 1917 by five courageous women at NYU who believed all women, regardless of race or religion, should have the right to join a sisterhood. At Emory, they embody their motto, “esse quam videri”, which means “to be, rather than to seem to be”, and they pride ourselves on our genuine sisterhood. For consecutive years, DPhiE won the Dean’s Cup for Excellence in Greek Life in recognition of their philanthropic efforts and dedication to sisterhood.
